A prominent figure in the Rajasthan High Court, Justice Anil Kumar Upman was born on September 18, 1971. He holds a B.Sc. and LL.B. His official address is the Rajasthan High Court, Jodhpur. He enrolled as an Advocate on November 20, 1994, and was elevated to his current position on January 16, 2023. His areas of specialization include Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Service matters, Civil Writ Law, and Labour Matters.
Justice Upman began his legal practice under the tutelage of Senior Advocate Late Shri Sajjan Raj Surana in 1995. By 1999, he had established his independent practice, advocating in Criminal, Civil, Labour, Matrimonial, and Constitutional matters before the Rajasthan High Court, Jaipur Bench, and other Courts and Tribunals. Over 27 years, he has personally filed more than 10,000 cases before the Rajasthan High Court at Jaipur Bench.
He was elected President of the Rajasthan High Court Bar Association, Jaipur, for the year 2018-19, where he also provided pro bono services to underprivileged litigants. During his tenure, he organized relief efforts for the 2019 Kerala Floods, including a donation of Rs. 2,31,000 to the Chief Minister's Kerala Relief Fund. He also initiated a Blood Donation Camp in remembrance of the Pulwama Martyrs, collecting 111 units of blood.
Justice Upman also raised concerns about public gatherings near the Rajasthan High Court, Jaipur Bench, and the State Assembly. He argued a significant case related to laborers under Section 17B of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, which was referred to a Larger Bench, eventually ruling in the laborers' favor. Additionally, he dealt with cases of Police Atrocities, ensuring they were treated with priority, resulting in CBI investigations and directions upheld by the Hon'ble Apex Court.
