A respected member of the Gujarat High Court, Justice Aniruddha P. Mayee's career is distinguished by his extensive practice in the Supreme Court of India and his expertise in various legal domains. Elevated as a Judge of the High Court of Gujarat on October 18, 2021, Justice Mayee brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the bench.
Justice Mayee's academic qualifications include a B.Sc. from Gujarat University, an LL.B. from Gujarat University, and an LL.M. from Gujarat University, where he was a gold medalist. He registered with the Gujarat Bar Council on June 29, 1995, and practiced as an Advocate in the Gujarat High Court from July 1995 to August 1996.
In September 1996, he commenced his legal practice in the Supreme Court of India, New Delhi. He passed the Advocate-on-Record examination and registered as Advocate-on-Record on the rolls of the Supreme Court of India in September 2002.
Throughout his career, Justice Mayee has held several significant appointments, including Standing Counsel for Bombay High Court in the Supreme Court of India, Advocate-on-Record for Gujarat High Court in the Supreme Court of India, and Advocate on Record for Chhattisgarh High Court in the Supreme Court of India. He also served as Chief Government Advocate and Standing Counsel for the State of Maharashtra in the Supreme Court of India, and Standing Counsel for the State of Chhattisgarh for the Supreme Court of India.
Additionally, he was an ‘A’ Panel Advocate for the Union of India in the Supreme Court of India and Advocate-on-Record & Standing Counsel for the State of Gujarat in the Supreme Court of India. He also served as Standing Counsel for numerous statutory bodies/corporations of Maharashtra in the Supreme Court of India.
With 26 years of legal practice, Justice Mayee has independently handled cases in almost all spheres of law and advised different state governments on various legal issues. He has appeared in various arbitrations and conducted original side proceedings on behalf of the State of Chhattisgarh in the Supreme Court of India. His extensive experience and expertise continue to enrich the Gujarat High Court.
