A respected member of the Bombay High Court, Justice Arif S. Doctor brings a wealth of experience in civil, constitutional, and environmental law to the bench. His career is marked by a commitment to public service and the enforcement of environmental laws.
Born in Mumbai on July 17, 1972, Justice A.S. Doctor completed his schooling from St. Mary's School (ICSE) Mumbai. He graduated from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai, and subsequently from Government Law College, Mumbai. This comprehensive education provided a strong foundation for his legal career.
Justice Doctor enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Maharashtra & Goa on July 19, 1998. He joined the chambers of Senior Advocate Darius J. Khambata, where he practiced primarily in Civil, Constitutional, and Public Interest matters, including those pertaining to the enforcement of Environmental Laws.
From 2009 to 2012, Justice Doctor was empanelled as Panel Counsel of the Union of India, (Senior Counsel Group - I). He also appeared extensively for the Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission in several matters. In addition to his practice in the Hon'ble Bombay High Court, he has appeared before the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India and various Tribunals and Commissions, including the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT), and the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC). Elevated as an Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court on July 19, 2022, Justice Doctor continues to contribute significantly to the judiciary.
