A distinguished figure in the Supreme Court of India, Justice Bela M. Trivedi's career is marked by her extensive judicial experience and contributions to Indian law.
Born on June 10, 1960, in Patan, North Gujarat, Justice Trivedi experienced a diverse upbringing due to her father's transferable judicial service. She completed her schooling across various locations before pursuing her BCom – LLB from MS University, Vadodara.
Justice Trivedi practiced law on the Civil and Constitutional side in the High Court of Gujarat for approximately ten years, building a strong foundation in legal principles and advocacy.
On July 10, 1995, Justice Trivedi was directly appointed as a Judge of the City Civil and Sessions Court at Ahmedabad. In a unique coincidence, her father was serving as a Judge in the same court at the time, a fact recognized by the Limca Book of Indian Records in its 1996 edition.
She held various significant positions, including Registrar – Vigilance in the High Court, Law Secretary in the Government of Gujarat, CBI court judge, and Special Judge for Serial Bomb blast matters.
Justice Trivedi was elevated as a Judge of the Gujarat High Court on February 17, 2011. She was later transferred to the Rajasthan High Court in June 2011, serving at the Jaipur Bench until her repatriation to the Parent High Court at Gujarat in February 2016. She then served as a Judge of the Gujarat High Court until her elevation to the Supreme Court of India on August 31, 2021. She retired on June 9, 2025.
