Born in Delhi, Justice Sethi completed his schooling at St. Xavier's, Kanpur, and graduated from Christ Church College, Kanpur. He obtained his law degree from the University of Delhi in 1982. Joining the Delhi Judicial Service on November 4, 1986, he was promoted to the Higher Judicial Service in 2000.
