Justice J. R. Midha

Justice J.R. Midha has left an indelible mark on the Delhi High Court and the Indian legal system through his extensive service and commitment to judicial reform. Serving as a Judge of the Delhi High Court from April 11, 2008, to July 7, 2021, he presided over various jurisdictions and headed a Division Bench hearing Criminal Appeals involving life and death sentence references. He also served as the Chairperson of the Delhi International Arbitration Centre (DIAC), where he implemented various initiatives to improve arbitration processes. Justice Midha also served as the Chairperson of the Judicial Education and Training Programme Committee, overseeing the training of judges at the Delhi Judicial Academy. He initiated judicial reforms in areas such as Arbitration, Motor Accident Claims, Execution Cases, and Compensation to Victims of Crime. Before his elevation, Justice Midha practiced law for 26 years and taught law at Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, Delhi University, from 1989 to 1992. He has authored three books, including "Motor Accident Claims Referencer," and has been a resource person for training judges at national and state judicial academies.
