A distinguished member of the Patna High Court, Justice Jitendra Kumar's journey is marked by a diverse legal background and commitment to judicial service.
Born on November 2, 1969, in Kamta Village, Arwal District, Bihar, Justice Kumar is the son of the late Mahabir Singh, a farmer, and the late Bhagywani Devi, a homemaker. He completed his schooling in his native village and pursued Intermediate of Arts from Patna College, Patna (P.U.). He then moved to Delhi for higher education, earning his B.A. (Hons.) and M.A. in History from Ramjas College of Delhi University. He obtained his LL.B from Campus Law Centre (D.U.).
Justice Kumar began his legal practice in 1998 in Delhi, appearing before District Courts, Consumer Commission, Service Tribunal, Delhi High Court, and Supreme Court. His practice encompassed Civil, Consumer, Service, and Writ matters, as well as some Criminal matters.
After practicing law for approximately 12 years, he joined the Bihar District Judiciary as an Additional District & Sessions Judge on May 1, 2010. He served in various roles, including Principal Judge of Family Court, District & Sessions Judge, Special Law Secretary, and Director, Bihar Judicial Academy, before being elevated as a Judge of the Patna High Court on June 4, 2022.
