Born on June 11, 1909, Justice K.S. Hedge received his education at various institutions, including Elementary School, Kawdoor, Board High School, Karkal, Government College, St. Aloysius College, Mangalore, Presidency College, and Law College, Madras. He enrolled as an Advocate of the Bombay High Court in December 1935 and practiced civil and criminal law, initially in Karkal (1935-1940), then in Mangalore (1940-1954), Madras (1955-1956), and Bangalore from November 1956 following state reorganization.
His public service included roles as Government Pleader and Public Prosecutor from September 1947 to November 1951. In 1954, he was a member of the Indian Delegation to the U.N.O. Before his appointment as a permanent Judge of the Mysore High Court on August 26, 1957, he served as a Member of Parliament. He was appointed Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court on October 31, 1966, and subsequently a Judge of the Supreme Court from July 17, 1967. He resigned from the Supreme Court on April 30, 1973.
