Justice Mengdey completed his graduation from L.J. Commerce College, Ahmedabad, in 1994, followed by a law degree from Law College Gandhinagar in 1997. He was enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Gujarat on July 2, 1998, setting the stage for a dynamic legal career.
Upon enrollment, he joined the esteemed office of Shri S.N. Shelat, Senior Advocate, gaining invaluable experience. His career trajectory included an appointment as Assistant Government Pleader on May 2, 2002, and later as Additional Public Prosecutor on June 5, 2007, in the High Court of Gujarat. During this period, he handled various civil and criminal matters, representing the Government of Gujarat until July 1, 2011.
Justice Mengdey's career further evolved when he was directly selected to the cadre of District Judge on June 23, 2011. He served as the 2nd Additional District Judge at Surat, followed by a transfer to Kachchh at Bhuj as Additional District Judge, a position he held until November 30, 2014. From December 1, 2014, he served as the Principal District Judge at Kachchh, Bhuj, until May 9, 2017.
His administrative roles within the judiciary continued with appointments as Registrar (Inspection) of the High Court of Gujarat on May 11, 2017, followed by Registrar (Recruitment) on March 14, 2019. He then served as Principal District Judge in Mahesana from January 20, 2020, until March 11, 2020, and subsequently as Principal District Judge in Vadodara from March 12, 2020, until his elevation to the High Court on March 16, 2023.
