Hon’ble Mr. Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari

Hon’ble Mr. Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari, a distinguished figure in the Uttarakhand High Court, was born on 19th September, 1965 in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, into a family deeply rooted in the legal profession. His father, Shri N.B. Tiwari, is a designated Senior Advocate, and his maternal grandfather, Shri Ram Datt Chilkoti, was a leading lawyer in District Pithoragarh.

Justice Tiwari's early education was at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pithoragarh, followed by graduation and post-graduation from Government Post Graduate College, Pithoragarh. He obtained his LL.B. from Delhi University in 1990. In the same year, he enrolled with the Bar Council of U.P. Allahabad and began his practice at the Hon’ble High Court of Judicature at Allahabad. With the creation of the Hon’ble Uttarakhand High Court in 2000, he shifted to Nainital and continued his practice there. On 20.05.2009, he was designated as Senior Advocate. He also served as President of the High Court Bar Association, Nainital, in 2008. He was appointed as a permanent Judge of the High Court of Uttarakhand on 19.05.2017. Furthermore, he served as the Acting Chief Justice from 27.10.2023 to 03.02.2024 and was again appointed as the Acting Chief Justice w.e.f. 11.10.2024.
