A multifaceted jurist, Justice M.L. Mehta's career in the Delhi judiciary spanned various roles, culminating in his elevation to the Delhi High Court.

Justice M.L. Mehta earned a B.Sc. from Punjab University, followed by an M.A. and LL.B. from Delhi University, and an LL.M. from Kurukshetra University. After practicing law for over a year, he joined the Delhi Judicial Service on May 20th, 1977. During his tenure, he served in various positions, including Metropolitan Magistrate, Additional Rent Controller, Commercial Civil Judge, and Joint Registrar of the Delhi High Court.

Promoted to the Delhi Higher Judicial Service in 1996, he held positions such as Additional Sessions Judge, Additional District Judge, Special Judge (TADA), and Special Judge (CBI). He also served as Presiding Officer of the Labour Court and Motor Accident Claims Tribunal.

Justice Mehta established the Delhi Mediation Centre at the Karkardooma Court Complex, where he served as the Full-time Judge In-charge and Coordinator. As a designated trainer, he provided mediation training to lawyers and judges in Delhi and other parts of the country. In 2008, he became District Judge-II.

From June 2009 until December 2nd, 2010, he served as Principal Secretary (Law, Justice & Legislative Affairs) for the Government of NCT of Delhi. He was elevated to the Bench of the Delhi High Court on December 3rd, 2010, and retired on December 30th, 2013.
