Justice Purnendu Singh stands as a notable figure in the Patna High Court, bringing a wealth of experience from diverse areas of law.
Born on 4th February 1967 in Patna, he completed his schooling at St. Xavier’s High School, Patna, and graduated with honors in Geology from Patna Science College, Patna. He further pursued post-graduation in Geology from Patna University. During his academic career, he served as the General Secretary of Patna Science College in 1987-1988.
He obtained his LL.B. Degree from Patna Law College, Patna University, and was enrolled as an Advocate with the Bihar State Bar Council on 03.02.1997.
His legal practice at the Patna High Court encompassed various jurisdictions, including Commercial, Constitutional, Civil, Writ, Criminal, Service, Taxation, Electricity, Banking, Finance and Insurance, Customs and Excise, Real Estate, Administrative, Co-operative, Telecommunication, Indirect Taxes, and University Law matters.
He has also appeared before the Commercial Tax Tribunal, Company Law Board, Debt Recovery Tribunal, and Arbitrators.
In 2013, he was appointed as Government Pleader by the State of Bihar, a position he held until July 2016. Additionally, he served as counsel for the Bihar School Examination Board, National Insurance Company Ltd., Central Bank of India, and several other public sector undertakings.
Justice Singh took oath as a Judge of the Patna High Court on October 20th, 2021.
