Justice Rekha Palli, a distinguished figure in the Delhi High Court, began her illustrious legal journey after graduating from Hindu College, Delhi, where she topped her batch in Science before earning her LLB from Campus Law Center, University of Delhi in 1986. Her commitment to law led her to register as an Advocate on Record with the Supreme Court of India in 1991. In recognition of her expertise and dedication, she was designated as Senior Advocate by the Delhi High Court in April 2015. Justice Palli is particularly renowned for her fervent advocacy for gender equality, especially within the Armed Forces, where she was pivotal in securing permanent commission for women.
Elevated to a permanent Judge of the High Court of Delhi on May 15th, 2017, Justice Palli has since delivered numerous landmark judgments. Her legal acumen spans a broad spectrum of disciplines, including Indian Constitutional law, Criminal law, Family law, Service law, Banking law, and Arbitration matters.
During the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic in April and May 2021, Justice Palli was instrumental in addressing critical pleas concerning the government's pandemic response in Delhi. As part of the Bench, she issued directives aimed at ensuring equitable access to essential medical facilities for all residents, demonstrating her commitment to public welfare and justice during times of crisis.
A strong proponent of amicable dispute resolution, Justice Rekha Palli has consistently championed the use of alternate dispute resolution mechanisms. Her involvement as a member of the Delhi International Arbitration Centre (DIAC) reflects her dedication to streamlining institutional arbitration through state-of-the-art infrastructure, established rules and procedures, equitable fees, and exceptional administrative support. She also led the organizing Committee for the inaugural Delhi Arbitration Weekend (DAW) under DIAC, hosting 250 delegates from 14 countries to discuss arbitration law and commercial dispute resolution.
In April 2023, she represented India at a regional symposium in Kathmandu, Nepal, focusing on Forest and Protected Areas Legislation and Jurisprudence, where she offered insights into the complexities of forests and protected areas laws. Additionally, she participated in a Bilateral Judicial Dialogue with a German Delegation at the Supreme Court of India, addressing concerns related to climate change and the role of the Indian judiciary. She retired on 08.03.2025.
