Born on July 31st, 1949, Justice Rekha Sharma graduated from St. Thomas Higher Secondary School in New Delhi before pursuing her graduation from Miranda House, Delhi University. She studied law at the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, and was enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Delhi in 1972.

Justice Sharma practiced primarily in the Delhi High Court, handling Constitutional, Civil, and Criminal matters. She was appointed as Central Government Counsel for the Delhi High Court from 1977 and continued in that role until 1988. In January 1988, she was selected as an Additional District Judge from the Bar by the Delhi High Court. She served as District & Sessions Judge from October 1st, 2004, until February 23rd, 2005.
