Early Life and Education

Justice R.M. Sahai completed his high school education at J.P. Mehta Municipal Inter College, Varanasi, and his intermediate studies at Queen’s Intermediate College, Varanasi. He obtained his B.A., M.A., and LL.B. degrees from Allahabad University.

Legal Career

Enrolling as a Pleader in Varanasi Civil Court in 1953, he later became an Advocate at the Allahabad High Court in 1956, specializing in constitutional, civil, and revenue cases. In 1967, he was appointed as Standing Counsel for the State of Uttar Pradesh, primarily handling sales tax matters.

Judicial Service

Elevated to the Bench of the Allahabad High Court on January 27, 1976, Justice Sahai later ascended to the Supreme Court of India, taking his oath on January 11, 1990. He retired on June 24, 1995.

Extra-curricular Activities

Throughout his career, Justice Sahai actively contributed to legal publications, served as President of the K.P.
