A key figure in the Delhi High Court, Justice R.V. Easwar (born April 29, 1952) brings a wealth of experience from both legal practice and the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal. He earned a B.Com from Madurai University (1971) and an LL.B. from Bangalore University (1974), followed by an LL.M. from Mumbai University (2000) specializing in Human Rights & Environmental Law. Further broadening his professional qualifications, he became a Chartered Accountant (A.C.A.) in 1979.
Justice Easwar enrolled at the Bar, High Court of Madras, in 1975, joining the chambers of Mr.K.Srinivasan, Sr. Advocate. He practiced in revenue laws, taxation (direct and indirect), foreign exchange laws, Company cases, and matrimonial cases before the Tribunal and High Courts. In 1991, he joined the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, Ministry of Law & Justice, serving in Calcutta (1991-1997), Mumbai (1997-2004), Delhi (2004-2008), Bangalore (2008-2009), and Ahmedabad before returning to Mumbai.
He was promoted as Vice President in January 2005, Senior Vice-President in November 2009, and President of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal from June 4, 2010. Justice Easwar was elevated to the Delhi High Court on October 17, 2011, and retired on April 28, 2014.
