Hon'ble Shri Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde, a luminary in the Indian legal system, was born on 24th April, 1956, in Nagpur, Maharashtra. His academic foundation was built upon B.A. and LL.B. degrees from Nagpur University, setting the stage for his illustrious legal career.
His Lordship was enrolled on the roll of the Bar Council of Maharashtra in 1978, marking the formal commencement of his practice. He practiced Law at the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court, making appearances at Bombay before the Principal Seat and before the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India for over 21 years, demonstrating his versatility and expertise in a wide array of legal matters. His proficiency was recognized when he was designated as Senior Advocate in 1998.
Justice Bobde's career advanced significantly with his elevation as Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court on 29th March, 2000. His judicial acumen led to his swearing-in as Chief Justice of High Court of Madhya Pradesh on 16th October, 2012.
His Lordship's distinguished service culminated with his elevation as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India on 12th April, 2013. He further ascended to the highest judicial office, being sworn in as Chief Justice of India on 18th November, 2019. Justice Bobde demitted the office of Chief Justice of India on 23rd April, 2021, leaving behind a legacy of profound legal scholarship and judicial leadership.
