The Hon'ble Justice Sugato Majumdar
A dedicated member of the Calcutta High Court, Justice Sugato Majumdar's journey reflects a commitment to both legal practice and judicial service. Born on 25th December, 1967, Justice Majumdar graduated with Honours from the University of Calcutta. He passed LL.B. examinations in the year 1994 from Hooghly Mohsin College and was enrolled in the Bar Council of West Bengal on 29th June, 1995. For fourteen years, he practiced civil and labour matters in Calcutta High Court and various courts of West Bengal. In 2009, Justice Majumdar distinguished himself by standing first in the Direct Recruitment Examination to the Cadre of District Judge (Entry Level) from the Members of the Bar. His career includes significant roles such as Registrar General of the Calcutta High Court, Secretary, Law, Govt. of West Bengal, and District & Sessions Judge of A&N Islands, Howrah, and Jalpaiguri. Elevated to the Bench as an Additional Judge of the High Court at Calcutta on August 27, 2021, he was later appointed as Permanent Judge on May 2, 2022.
