An esteemed member of the Delhi High Court, Justice Tushar Rao Gedela’s career is marked by diverse legal experiences and a commitment to public service. Born on July 18, 1967, he is an alumnus of The Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi. He pursued Political Science (Hons) from Deshbandhu Gupta College, Delhi University, followed by BA LLB from Meerut University in 1993. He enrolled with the Delhi Bar Council in 1994.
Justice Gedela began his professional journey at the District Courts at Tis Hazari, gaining experience in Civil, Criminal, and Family side jurisdictions. He joined the office of Shri M. Chandrashekharan, former Additional Solicitor General of India, in 1997, handling matters related to Customs and Excise. He was later associated with Justice M N Rao (Retd.), where he was exposed to Service matters. He primarily practiced in the Supreme Court of India, Delhi High Court, TDSAT, and Armed Forces Tribunal.
He served as Central Government Counsel in the Delhi High Court from 2000 to 2003 and as Senior Panel Counsel for the Central Government at the Delhi High Court in 2014. He was Panel ‘A’ Counsel for the Supreme Court of India in 2015. He was designated as Senior Advocate in March 2021 and appointed as a Permanent Judge of the Delhi High Court on May 18, 2022.
