Justice V.D. Tulzapurkar, born on March 9, 1921, had a distinguished legal career that culminated in his appointment as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India on September 30, 1977. Educated at Wilson High School, Wilson College, and Government Law College, Bombay, he was enrolled as an Advocate of the Bombay High Court on December 1, 1942.
He practiced civil and criminal cases on both the original and appellate sides of the Bombay High Court. His judicial service began on July 16, 1956, as a Judge of the City Civil Court and Additional Sessions Judge, Bombay, eventually becoming the Principal Judge, City Civil Court, and Sessions Judge, Bombay on April 19, 1962.
