As per case facts, appellants (students) took admission in B. Tech courses, depositing the entire course fees based on the structure published by the college prior to admission. The question arose whether a mid-session fee hike, after students had already taken admission based on a prior fee structure and considering the initial fee structure contemplated a block payment, was permissible under regulations and equitable principles. Finally, the High Court clarified that the fee hike notification should be read down to apply only to students admitted on or after the notification date.
