Born on July 27, 1893, in Berhampur, Justice Jagannadhadas pursued his education with diligence. He attended Berhampur College until 1911 and later graduated with honors from Presidency College, Madras, in 1914. His academic pursuits culminated in B.L. and M.L. degrees from Madras in 1916 and 1918, respectively.
Justice Jagannadhadas was called to the Bar at Madras in 1918, where he practiced primarily on the appellate side until 1948, with a break of two years during his involvement in the 1942 Congress Movement. His dedication to the legal profession was evident through his membership in the Bar Council of Madras from 1943 to 1948.
In 1948, Justice Jagannadhadas was appointed as a Judge of the Orissa High Court, marking the beginning of his judicial career. He later served as the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court from October 1951, demonstrating his leadership and expertise in legal matters.
Justice Jagannadhadas's career reached its zenith with his appointment as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India, where he served from March 9, 1953, to September 8, 1957. He was a Congress Worker and Social Worker in Madras, a Member of the Madras Corporation from 1938 to 1943, and a member of various organizations such as the Madras Mahajan Sabha and the Andhra Mahasabha. His contributions to education and social welfare included his role as the Incharge of the Harijan Industrial School, Kodampakkam, from 1936 to 1948, and his membership in the Senate of Utkal University from 1948 to 1953. He also served as the Executive Chairman of the Indian Law Institute, further demonstrating his commitment to legal education and research.
