A distinguished legal mind, Chief Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo leads the Patna High Court with a rich background in criminal and service law.
Born on June 5, 1964, Chief Justice Sahoo is the son of Late Sarat Chandra Sahoo. He completed his Matriculation from Nuabazar High School, Cuttack, and his I.Sc. and B.Sc. from Stewart Science College, Cuttack. He also earned M.A. degrees in English and Oriya from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, and an LL.B. from The Law College, Cuttack.
Enrolling as an Advocate on November 26, 1989, under the Orissa State Bar Council, Cuttack, he practiced under the guidance of his father, Late Sarat Chandra Sahoo, and Dr. Manoranjan Panda, specializing in Criminal Law and Service & Constitutional Law.
Chief Justice Sahoo's practice spanned throughout the State of Odisha, including the High Court, District Court, Consumer Forum, SAT, and CAT.
He was elevated as a Judge of the Orissa High Court on July 2, 2014, and took oath as The Chief Justice of Patna High Court on January 7, 2026.
