A distinguished jurist, Justice Revati Mohite Dere's career is characterized by academic excellence and a commitment to justice. Born in Pune on April 17, 1965, she has achieved remarkable milestones in her legal journey.
Justice Dere completed her schooling at St. Joseph's High School, Pune, and excelled at Ferguson College, earning a National Merit Certificate. She secured a First Class with Distinction in B.S.L. and LL.B. from Symbiosis Law College, Pune, and stood 2nd in the Merit List at the University of Pune (LL.B.). Furthering her studies, she obtained an LL. M. from the University of Cambridge, U. K., as a recipient of the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust Scholarship.
After her LL. M., she practiced at the Bombay High Court on the Criminal, Civil, and Constitutional side, as well as in the Sessions Court. She also served as an Assistant Government Pleader, Writ Cell, and as a Government Pleader & Public Prosecutor for the State of Maharashtra, appearing in several important matters, including P.I.L's and Confirmation Cases.
Appointed as an Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court on June 21, 2013, and later elevated as Judge on March 2, 2016, she continued to serve with distinction. On January 1, 2026, Justice Dere was appointed as Chief Justice of the High Court of Meghalaya, taking oath on January 10, 2026.
