Justice Dr. T. Amarnath Goud stands as a distinguished figure in the Indian judiciary, marked by a career dedicated to upholding justice and contributing significantly to legal and social welfare.

Born on 1st March, 1965, in Secunderabad, to Sri T. Krishna and Smt. Savitri, Justice Goud completed his schooling at St. Patrick’s High School and pursued intermediate studies at Wesley Boys Junior College. He earned a B.Sc. degree from Arts and Science College, Secunderabad, affiliated with Osmania University, and an LL.B. from Shivaji Law College under Marathwada University, Maharashtra.

Enrolling as an Advocate on 22nd September, 1990, with the Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh, he commenced his legal practice under Hon’ble Justice V. Eswaraiah. His practice spanned civil, criminal, and constitutional law. He served as Standing Counsel for the Nalgonda District Co-operative Central Bank Limited and was appointed by the High Court as an Arbitrator, Amicus Curiae, and Advocate Commissioner.

Elevated as a Judge of the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad for the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on 21st September, 2017, Justice Goud disposed of 87,957 cases in four years. Transferred to the High Court of Tripura, he took oath on 28th October, 2021, and continues to serve.

Justice Goud was honored by the International Wonder Book of Records for adjudicating 91,157 cases across the High Courts at Hyderabad and Tripura between 2017 and 2024, averaging 109 disposals per day. He received an Honorary Doctorate from Maharaja Bir Bikram University Tripura on 29th May, 2025, recognizing his contributions to law and justice.

He also served as the Chairman of the Tripura High Court Legal Services Committee and as the Executive Chairman of the Tripura State Legal Services Authority, implementing numerous innovative schemes to enhance access to justice.

Justice Goud officiated as the Chief Justice (Acting) of the High Court of Tripura on multiple occasions, introducing and implementing path-breaking judicial and administrative initiatives. He also served as Chairman, Board of Governors, Tripura Judicial Academy.

A dedicated member of Lions Clubs International for over 25 years, Justice Goud has served in various capacities. He is also a Trustee of the Heart and Eye Foundation and Lions Bhawan, Hyderabad. His family has a strong philanthropic legacy, with his grandfather, late T. Anjaiah Goud, making significant public contributions, including donating land for a burial ground and gifting a statue of Mahatma Gandhi.
