Early Life and Education

Born on 26th February, 1969, in Cuttack, Justice Mohapatra is the son of Late Shri Abhiram Mohapatra, a leading figure in Odia literature publication, and Smt. Sabita Devi. He is also the grandson of Late Pt. Sridhar Mohapatra Sharma, a doyen of Odia literature and founder of the 'Grantha Mandir' publication house. He completed his schooling at Ravenshaw Collegiate School, Cuttack, and obtained a Commerce degree from Ravenshaw College, Cuttack, under Utkal University, Odisha. He later earned a law degree from Madhu Sudan Law College, Cuttack, and enrolled as an advocate in 1995.

Legal Career

Justice Mohapatra began his career in the chambers of Justice P.K. Mishra and started his independent practice in 2000. His legal practice spanned Constitutional, Civil, Revenue, Criminal, Education, Corporate, Arbitration, and Election Laws, primarily in the High Court of Orissa.

Government and Institutional Counsel

Justice Mohapatra has served as Standing Counsel for the Election Commission of India and National Aluminum Company Ltd. (NALCO) for Orissa High Court. He has also been Retained Counsel for Biju Patnaik University of Technology Odisha (BPUT), Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC), and Odisha Mineral Development Corporation Ltd. (OMDC).
