Born on September 1, 1936, Justice Misra obtained his B.Sc.LL.B. degree and enrolled as an Advocate in the Allahabad High Court in October 1960. He practiced in Civil and Tax law, establishing himself as a proficient lawyer.
He served as Standing Counsel for the Uttar Pradesh Government for several years and also represented the Central Government, various corporations, and development authorities. His extensive experience as a government counsel provided him with a deep understanding of administrative and regulatory law.
Justice Misra was appointed as a permanent Judge of the Allahabad High Court on May 24, 1984. His tenure in the Allahabad High Court was followed by his appointment as Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court on June 26, 1997.
His career reached its zenith with his appointment as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India on December 4, 1997.
