Hon'ble Shri Justice Arun Mishra
A prominent figure in Indian law, Justice Arun Mishra, born on September 3, 1955, has a career marked by dedication to justice and legal reform. After earning his law degree, he enrolled as an Advocate on January 26, 1978, practicing in the High Court of Madhya Pradesh and various tribunals, handling diverse matters from Constitutional to Tax law. He served as Standing Counsel for multiple organizations and was elected the youngest Chairman of the Bar Council of India in 1998-99. Justice Mishra was pivotal in improving legal education, co-chairing the All India Meet that introduced 3 and 5-year LL.B. courses in 1998-1999. As Chairman, he closed substandard law colleges and strengthened disciplinary measures. He also drafted key rules regarding foreign law degrees and lawyer practice in India. Appointed Judge of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh on October 25, 1999, he later became Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court on November 26, 2010, and then Chief Justice of the High Court at Calcutta on December 14, 2012. He was elevated as Judge, Supreme Court of India on July 7, 2014, and demitted office on September 2, 2020.
