A prominent Justice of the Calcutta High Court, Justice Debangsu Basak's career reflects a deep-rooted commitment to the legal profession. Born on June 19, 1966, into a lawyer’s family, his path was heavily influenced by his familial environment. He obtained his LL.B. and embarked on a career marked by dedication and expertise.
Justice Basak was enrolled as an Advocate on December 20, 1991, and for the next 21 years, he practiced extensively in the High Court at Calcutta, as well as before the Company Law Board (Kolkata Bench and Principal Bench at New Delhi), Board for Industrial & Financial Reconstruction, and Debts Recovery Tribunal. He also occasionally appeared before the District Courts at Alipore and Barasat. His practice encompassed Civil, Company, and Constitutional matters, with a specialization in Company matters.
His legal acumen and dedication led to his elevation to the Bench of the High Court at Calcutta as an Additional Judge on October 30, 2013. He was later appointed as a Permanent Judge of the Calcutta High Court on March 14, 2016, a testament to his contributions to the judiciary.
