Hon'ble Mr. Justice Deepak Kumar Tiwari, born on January 11, 1964, in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, has an extensive background in the judiciary. His father, the late Shri Ram Kumar Tiwari, retired as an Entomologist, and his grandfather, the late Shri Raghunandan Prasad Tiwari, was Ex. Malgujar of Village Kharra, Bhainsbod & Boda Chhappar.
He completed his schooling from Government High School, Raipur, and earned a B. Com from Durga College, Raipur, and an LLB from Sau Kusum Tai Dabke Law College, Raipur, Chhattisgarh. He also holds an LLM from Chhattisgarh College, Raipur, and was the first student to complete an LLM in Constitutional Law from Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur, in 1987.
Justice Tiwari began his judicial career in 1990 as a Civil Judge, Class-II, with his first posting in Jagdalpur, followed by Sarangarh. He served as a Civil Judge, Class-I in Janjgir, and later as CJM Rajnandgaon.
He has served as District and Sessions Judge in Rajnandgaon and Balod, being the First District and Sessions Judge in Balod District. He also worked as Additional Director at the Chhattisgarh State Judicial Academy and held various positions in the High Court, including Additional Registrar (Classification), Registrar (Inspection and Inquiry), and Registrar Vigilance.
He served as Registrar General of the High Court until his elevation as Judge of the High Court on October 8, 2021. Took oath as Permanent Judge on 31 July 2023.
