A distinguished member of the High Court of Jharkhand, Justice Pradeep Kumar Srivastava brings a diverse background in both legal practice and judicial service to the bench. His career reflects a strong commitment to upholding justice and the rule of law.
Born on January 1, 1966, in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, Justice Srivastava hails from a middle-class family with a history of public service. His grandfather, Late Mahavir Prasad, was a respected Mukhtar in the pre-independence era, and his father, Late Badri Narayan Srivastava, retired as the Principal of a Government Post Graduate College. Justice Srivastava received his primary education in his village and completed his Matriculation and Intermediate studies at Government Queens Inter College, Varanasi. He graduated from Udai Pratap Degree College, Varanasi, in 1984.
In 1987, he obtained his LL.B. degree from Sri Harish Chandra Post Graduate College, Varanasi, setting the foundation for his legal career.
Justice Srivastava enrolled as an Advocate on July 12, 1988, at the District Court, Varanasi, where he practiced in civil, criminal, and revenue matters until October 31, 1998. His dedication to public service led him to be selected as an Assistant Prosecution Officer through a competitive examination conducted by UP.P.S.C, securing the 11th rank in the merit list. He served as A.P.O. from November 1, 1998, to December 31, 2000, while posted at Kanpur City, U.P.
Continuing his pursuit of judicial excellence, Justice Srivastava was selected for the post of Civil Judge (Jr. Division) in Uttar Pradesh in 2000, securing the 28th position in the merit list. He later joined the Jharkhand Superior Judicial Service as Additional District Judge on January 2, 2002, through a competitive examination, earning the 1st position in the merit list.
Promoted to District Judge on March 12, 2007, he served as Principal District Judge in various districts of Jharkhand, including Garhwa, Dumka, Giridih, West Singhbhum at Chaibasa, Koderma, and Bokaro. He also served as Registrar (Establishment) in the High Court of Jharkhand, Ranchi, from July 2010 to December 2010, and as Principal Law Secretary to the State of Jharkhand from May 2019 to September 2020.
Justice Srivastava was elevated as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Jharkhand, Ranchi, on June 7, 2022.
