A distinguished member of the Delhi High Court, Justice Prateek Jalan brings a wealth of academic and professional experience to the bench. Born in Calcutta on April 4, 1970, he completed his education at Modern School, New Delhi, and Hindu College, University of Delhi.
Justice Jalan pursued law at Trinity College, University of Cambridge, and the University of Michigan Law School (LL.M.). He enrolled as an Advocate in August 1992 and was called to the English Bar from the Inner Temple, London. His legal career began in the High Court of Calcutta, and since 1998, he has practiced before the Supreme Court and the Delhi High Court. He was associated with the chambers of Mr. Bhaskar P. Gupta and Mr. Ashok H. Desai.
Justice Jalan's publications include contributions to “The Oxford Handbook of the Indian Constitution” and “Get Published! A Handbook for Writers in India.” He was appointed as a Judge of the Delhi High Court on October 22, 2018.
