A highly regarded member of the Calcutta High Court, Justice Rajasekhar Mantha's career is marked by a commitment to legal excellence and a diverse range of experiences. Born on October 29, 1967, he received his schooling at St. Paul's Boarding and Day's School, and St. Xavier's Collegiate School, Calcutta, before pursuing his LL.B. from the University College of Law, Nagpur University in April 1990. He furthered his education with an LL.M. in Commercial Corporate Laws from King's College, London, University of London, in April 1991.
Justice Mantha's early career included representing the South Asian Region at the Commonwealth Law Conference, held at Auckland in New Zealand, as part of the South Asian Moot Court Team in April 1990. He was enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council of West Bengal in December 1991 and has since practiced in various areas, including Commercial Corporate, Finance, Securities, Constitutional, Consumer Protection, and Environmental laws. He was designated as a Senior Advocate in July 2015.
In addition to his legal practice, Justice Mantha has been a Visiting Professor at the NUJS at Kolkata and has delivered lectures at the Staff Training Colleges of various nationalized banks, The CID West Bengal, and the Institutes of Chartered Accountants, Kolkata. His dedication to the legal profession led to his elevation as an Additional Judge of the High Court at Calcutta on September 21, 2017, and his subsequent appointment as a Permanent Judge of the Calcutta High Court on September 16, 2019.
