A dedicated member of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Justice Sanjay Vashisth was born on September 28, 1968, in Agra. Growing up in a farmer family from Hatampura, Bhiwani, Haryana, he completed an integrated Bachelor of Arts (Law) LL.B. Degree from Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak, in 1991, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Labour Laws in 1993.
Enrolled with the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana in 1991, he began his practice under the guidance of his father, Shri Gopi Ram Vashisth, at District Courts, Bhiwani, before moving to Chandigarh in 1993. He represented grassroots litigants before quasi-judicial authorities, local courts, and the Punjab & Haryana High Court.
From 2000 to 2005, he served as Deputy and Senior Deputy Advocate General, Haryana, gaining expertise in criminal, constitutional, labour, land acquisition, and government matters. He is also an avid sports and music enthusiast, enjoying badminton, cricket, and mentoring young lawyers.
After resuming private practice in 2005, Justice Vashisth was elevated as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Punjab and Haryana, Chandigarh, on August 16, 2022, and became a Permanent Judge on September 28, 2023.
