Justice Saurabh Banerjee

Justice Saurabh Banerjee, born on January 20, 1976, in Delhi, follows in his father's footsteps as a second-generation lawyer. After graduating from Modern School, Barakhamba Road, in 1993, he earned a B.A. in English (Hons.) from the University of Delhi in 1996, followed by an LL.B. degree from the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, in 1999. He was admitted to the Bar Council of Delhi in the same year.
During his practice, he specialized in intellectual property rights, arbitration, commercial disputes, constitutional law, property rent, service matters, family law, labor law, and criminal law. He appeared before the Supreme Court of India, various High Courts, District Courts, Forums, and Tribunals across India. He also served as an Arbitrator at the Delhi International Arbitration Centre, a Mediator at the Delhi High Court Mediation Centre, and a Group ‘A’ Panel Advocate for the Union of India before the Supreme Court of India. Additionally, he was Standing Counsel for the National Highways Authority of India before the Delhi High Court, and General Counsel for the High Court of Delhi, University of Delhi, Indira Gandhi National Open University, and the Delhi High Court Legal Services Committee.
He was involved in landmark judgments concerning Section 364A of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, and Section 52(1) of the Copyright Act, 1957, and frequently provided expert commentary to media outlets on diverse legal topics. He was elevated as a Judge of the High Court of Delhi on May 18, 2022.
