Early Life and Education
Born on February 15, 1929, Justice Ramaswami attended Hindu High School, Sriviliputtur, American College, Madurai, and Law College, Madras.
Legal Career
He was enrolled as an Advocate of the Madras High Court on July 13, 1953, where he practiced civil and criminal law. He served as Additional Government Pleader from September 6, 1962, and as State Public Prosecutor from July 11, 1969.
Judicial Service
Justice Ramaswami was appointed as a permanent Judge of the Madras High Court from January 31, 1971. He was then transferred to become the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on November 12, 1987. He was appointed Judge of the Supreme Court on October 6, 1989, and retired on February 14, 1994.
