A distinguished member of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh judiciary, Justice Wasim Sadiq Nargal brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the bench.
Mr. Nargal hails from Katra, Jammu & Kashmir, and began his education at Dewan Badri Nath Vidya Mandir, Jammu. He graduated from GGM Science College, Jammu, and obtained his LLB from the University of Jammu. He began his independent legal practice in March 1991.
Justice Nargal was designated as a Senior Advocate by the J&K High Court on December 3, 2020. He previously served as Senior Additional Advocate General of the J&K Home Department. He has the distinction of serving as Standing Counsel for various departments of the Government of India and the J&K Government, Public Sector Undertakings, Banks, and Universities, with an illustrious legal practice spanning over 31 years.
He has served as Standing Counsel for the University of Jammu, SKAUST-J, Baba Ghulam Shah University, Rajouri, and Cluster University, Jammu. Additionally, he has been Senior Counsel for the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, Union Public Service Commission, Food Corporation of India, J&K Public Service Commission, Service Selection Board, Sales Tax & Exercise Department, JK IMPA, General Administration Department, and State Pollution Control Board. Mr. Nargal also served as Central Government Counsel and Counsel for the J&K Education Department as Additional Advocate General.
Justice Nargal holds expertise in taxation, service, academic, arbitration, and civil matters, as well as writ jurisdiction.
Recommended for elevation as a Judge of the High Court by the J&K High Court Collegium, he was appointed as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh on June 1, 2022, and took the oath of office on June 3, 2022.
