Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani

A first-generation lawyer, Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani, born in New Delhi in 1965, has distinguished himself through a career marked by diverse interests and significant contributions to public service. After completing his schooling at Springdales School, he earned a Master's Degree in Physics from St. Stephen's College, Delhi University, in 1989, specializing in nuclear physics. It was during his college years that Nani Palkhivala's book 'We, The People' inspired him to pursue legal studies, leading him to obtain his LL.B. degree from the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, in 1992.
Called to the Bar in 1992, Justice Bhambhani initially practiced with a senior lawyer before establishing his independent chambers in 1994. His practice encompassed media law and criminal law, and he appeared before the Supreme Court of India, the Delhi High Court, and subordinate courts, handling cases related to civil and criminal defamation, right to privacy, media regulation, breach of parliamentary privilege, broadcasting and telecom regulation, juvenile justice, copyright law, and constitutional law.
