A respected name in the Delhi High Court, Justice Avneesh Jhingan, born on January 29, 1969, comes from a family deeply rooted in the legal profession. His father was a leading lawyer practicing in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, setting a strong foundation for Justice Jhingan's own legal journey.
Justice Jhingan completed his B.Com (Hons.) from Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Sector 32-C, Chandigarh, and went on to graduate in Law from Panjab University, Chandigarh, in 1992. That same year, he was enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council for the States of Punjab and Haryana.
An avid sportsman, particularly keen on Badminton, Justice Jhingan participated in various tournaments. As an Advocate, he primarily handled cases pertaining to civil and tax matters and was elected as Chief Patron of the Punjab Tax Bar Association. His career progressed when he was elevated as an Additional Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on July 10, 2017, and subsequently sworn in as a Permanent Judge on December 3, 2018. He was then transferred to the Rajasthan High Court, taking his oath on November 1, 2023. Justice Jhingan's journey culminated in his transfer to the High Court of Delhi, where he took the oath of office on October 28, 2025, adding his expertise to another esteemed judicial body.
