A distinguished jurist in the Bombay High Court, Justice Riyaz Iqbal Chagla's career is characterized by extensive legal practice and a deep commitment to justice.
Born on 22nd October 1969 in Mumbai, Justice Chagla completed his graduation from H.R. College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai University in 1991. He graduated in Law in the year 1993 from University of Cambridge - Downing College. He was enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Maharashtra & Goa on 5th July 1993.
Justice Chagla joined the Chambers of Senior Counsel Mr. Darius Khambata (Former Additional Solicitor General and Advocate General). He practiced as Counsel in the Hon'ble Bombay High Court for over 23 years and also appeared in the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India. Appointed on the Union Panel (Senior Counsel Group - 1) in November 2009, he represented the Central Government in cases under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, FEMA, NDPS Act, etc. He was appointed on the State Government Panel - Panel 'A' on 21st September 2013. During his practice as Counsel, he appeared in Civil, Constitutional, Commercial, Corporate, Intellectual Property, Taxation, and Testamentary cases. He also appeared and acted as Arbitrator in several Arbitrations before being elevated as Additional Judge of Bombay High Court on 5th June 2017.
