A notable figure in the Indian judicial system, Justice Fakkir Mohamed Ibrahim Kalifulla, born on July 23, 1951, has a career distinguished by significant contributions to legal jurisprudence and judicial administration. He is the son of Late Thiru. Justice M. Fakkir Mohamed and hails from Karaikudi, Sivagangai District, Tamil Nadu. Justice Kalifulla was enrolled as an Advocate on August 20, 1975. He was an active Labour Law Practitioner as Partner of the Lawyer’s Firm called M/s. T.S. Gopalan & Co., representing various Public and Private Sector Undertakings, Nationalised and Scheduled Banks. He also served as the Standing Counsel for the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board.

On March 2, 2000, Justice Kalifulla was appointed as a Permanent Judge of the Madras High Court. Justice Kalifulla was transferred to the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir, assuming office on February 24, 2011. He was appointed as Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir on April 7, 2011, and subsequently took oath as Chief Justice on September 18, 2011.
