Early Life and Education
Born on March 14, 1956, in Bangalore, Justice Malhotra completed her schooling at Carmel Convent School, Delhi. She obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Lady Shri Ram College in 1975 and a Master's Degree in Political Science from Delhi University in 1977. In 1978, she was appointed as a Lecturer in Political Science at Miranda House College and Vivekanand College, Delhi University. She obtained a post-graduate Diploma in Corporate Laws & Secretarial Practice from the Indian Law Institute in 1978-79 and completed her Bachelor's Degree in Law from Delhi University in 1983.
Legal Career
Justice Malhotra enrolled as an Advocate on January 12, 1983, with the Bar Council of Delhi. She qualified as an Advocate-on-Record in 1988 and was awarded the Mukesh Goswami Memorial Prize for topping the examination. She was the second woman to be designated as a Senior Advocate by the Supreme Court in 2007, after a gap of 30 years. She specialized in the law of Arbitration and appeared as Counsel in various domestic and international commercial arbitrations both in India and abroad. She was appointed as a sole Arbitrator by various Arbitration Institutions. She holds a Certificate of the Diploma Course in International Commercial Arbitration by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb.), England. She was empanelled by SIAC as an Arbitrator in CIDC-SIAC from March 2006 to 2011.

Academic Pursuits and Publications
Authored the 3rd Edition of the Commentary on the Law and Practice of Arbitration and Conciliation.
