A distinguished member of the Orissa High Court, Justice Manash Ranjan Pathak brings a wealth of experience from his extensive legal career. Born on 28th August, 1965 in Guwahati, Justice Pathak's academic journey began at Haripriya Vidyapeeth, Kumarpara, Guwahati, and continued through M.C. M.E. School, Uzanbazar, and Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ambari, Guwahati, before completing his Higher Secondary education at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Khanapara, Guwahati. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from St. Josephs' College, Bangalore under Bangalore University and subsequently obtained his LLB degree from Government Law College, Panbazar, Guwahati, under Gauhati University.
Enrolling as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, and Arunachal Pradesh on 12.09.1990, Justice Pathak primarily practiced in Civil, Constitutional, Land Acquisition, and Service matters. He served as Standing Counsel for the State of Tripura from 2004 until bifurcation and was a Member of the Law Commission, Assam, and the Indian Law Institute until his elevation to the Bench.
His commitment to education was evident through his role as Standing Counsel of the Education Department, Government of Assam, from February 2005, and as Standing Counsel of Gauhati High Court until his appointment as Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court on 22nd May 2013. Justice Pathak became a permanent Judge on 12.11.2018. On transfer, he has been serving as a Judge of the High Court of Orissa since 21st July, 2025, continuing his dedicated service to the judiciary.
