A distinguished member of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Justice Namit Kumar was born on April 4, 1967, in a village in District Patiala. After attaining his law degree in 1993, he enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana on November 11, 1993.
As a first-generation lawyer, he started his practice at the Punjab and Haryana High Court and other Courts located at Chandigarh, handling both Original & Appellate sides in various fields of law, including Constitutional, Service, Labour, and Civil law. He served as Standing Counsel for the Election Commission of India since 2001 and for the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Mohali.
He also served as Additional Standing Counsel, Union Territory, Chandigarh Administration, and Senior Panel Counsel, Government of India, from December 3, 2001, until his elevation. Justice Kumar was elevated to the Bench as an Additional Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on August 16, 2022.
