Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav was sworn in as a Judge of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh at Jabalpur on October 8, 2021. Born on October 4, 1976, he completed his LL.B from N.E.S. College, Jabalpur, in 2001 and was enrolled as an Advocate on July 31, 2001.
With 20 years of practice, his expertise covers a wide array of legal areas including Civil Laws, Service & Labour Laws, Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Arbitration Law, Commercial Law, Electricity Disputes, and Inter-State Water Disputes, as well as Appellate Civil Litigation in the High Court and Supreme Court.
Justice Kaurav's career is notable for his appointments as the youngest Deputy Advocate General for the State of M.P. in 2009, Additional Advocate General in 2012, and Advocate General of M.P. in 2017. He was also designated as the youngest Senior Advocate of M.P. on May 19, 2017, and served as the First Additional Advocate General for the State of M.P. in the Supreme Court in 2016.
During his tenure as Advocate General, he served as Chairman of the Special Committee of the State Bar Council of M.P. and as an ex-officio member of the Executive Council of National Law Institute University at Bhopal. He has appeared in numerous cases for various State Public Sector undertakings and has represented clients before the Supreme Court of India, High Courts of Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, and various tribunals.
Justice Kaurav has also had the privilege of serving as Special Counsel for the Office of the Hon’ble Chancellor of M.P. and as a member of the Vice Chancellor Selection Committee of U.P. University, appointed by the Hon’ble Governor of Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, he was appointed as a Court Commissioner by the Hon’ble Supreme Court.
