Justice Rajesh Shankar is a distinguished member of the Jharkhand High Court, Ranchi, noted for his academic achievements and extensive legal career.
Born on 16th December 1970, Justice Rajesh Shankar is the eldest son of Late Lakshmi Narayan Singh, an Officer of the Bihar Finance Service. He hails from the village of “Singhdih” in the district of Giridih.
He studied at St. John's High School, Ranchi, where he topped the Board Examination in the school and district in 1985. He graduated from Hindu College, University of Delhi, and obtained his L.L.B. from Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, Delhi University.
Justice Shankar began his legal practice as an Advocate in the Ranchi Bench of the Hon'ble Patna High Court in 1995 and continued practicing before the Hon'ble High Court of Jharkhand.
He served as Standing Counsel for the Chancellor of Universities-cum-His Excellency, the Governor of Jharkhand, High Court of Jharkhand, Jharkhand Public Service Commission, Jharkhand State Electricity Board, Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, and numerous other organizations. He was engaged as Standing Counsel and subsequently functioned as the “Government Advocate” of the Government of Jharkhand until his elevation to the Bench.
He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Jharkhand on 30th September 2016 and took oath as a Judge of the High Court of Jharkhand on 19th September 2018.
