Early Life and Education

Born on February 13, 1929, in Thiruppudaimarudhur Village, Tirunelveli, Justice Pandian completed his schooling at Theerthapathi High School, Ambasamudram, and graduated from Saint Xavier’s College, Palayamkottai. He obtained his Law Degree from Madras Law College in 1954 and apprenticed under Shri K. Narayanswamy Mudaliar, later a Judge of the Madras High Court.

Legal Career

Justice Pandian practiced law for nearly 17 years, gaining extensive experience in both trial and appellate courts. In August 1971, he was appointed State Public Prosecutor in the Madras High Court, a position he held until his elevation as a Judge in February 1974. He also served briefly as Advocate General and held the office of Government Pleader.

Judicial Service

He served as acting Chief Justice of the Madras High Court on two occasions: from January 18, 1988, to January 29, 1988, and from March 13, 1988, to December 13, 1988. On December 14, 1988, he was appointed as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India, where he served until his retirement on March 12, 1994.
