Justice S.B. Sinha
A distinguished jurist with a career spanning multiple High Courts and the Supreme Court of India, Justice Satyabrata Sinha has left an indelible mark on Indian jurisprudence.
Hon’ble Sri Justice Satyabrata Sinha was born on August 8, 1944, in Dhanbad, Bihar. He completed his Matriculation Examination from H.E. School, Dhanbad, and obtained a B.L. Degree from Chotanagpur Law College in 1967. In 1968, he joined the Bar at Dhanbad District Court and later shifted his practice to Ranchi after the establishment of the Permanent Bench of Patna High Court in 1976.
Justice Sinha was designated as a Senior Advocate by the Patna High Court and appointed as the first Government Advocate of the Ranchi Bench of Patna High Court. He was elevated to the Patna High Court Bench on March 9, 1987, and subsequently transferred to the Calcutta High Court on May 11, 1994.
He served as the Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court from December 11, 2000, and as Chief Justice of Delhi High Court from November 26, 2001. Justice Sinha was elevated to the Supreme Court of India on October 1, 2002.
