Justice Anish Dayal
A distinguished figure in the Delhi legal scene, Justice Anish Dayal brings a wealth of experience from his extensive practice in civil, constitutional, and commercial law.
Justice Anish Dayal was born in 1973 in Allahabad (now Prayagraj) and commenced his educational journey at St. Joseph College. He later attended Delhi Public School, Noida, where he distinguished himself as Head Boy. He pursued higher education, earning a B.Sc.(Hons.) in Physics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University. As a Commonwealth Scholar, he obtained his law degree with M.A. (Hons.) from Churchill College, University of Cambridge, U.K.
Justice Dayal was admitted to the Delhi Bar Council in September 1995 and maintained an independent legal practice for over 25 years. His expertise spanned the Supreme Court of India and the High Court of Delhi, focusing on media, entertainment, and sports law. He contributed to legal education as a visiting faculty member at numerous Indian law schools and authored the Section on Damages (Vol. 9 Halsbury’s Laws of India), along with other publications on sports and media law.
He contributed regularly to newspapers and journals, including a column on law for Live Mint and The Wall Street Journal. Justice Dayal also conceived and curated the Quarterly Bar Review, a journal of the Delhi High Court Bar Association. Additionally, he was involved in policy issues related to road safety, heritage conservation, environment, and sustainability, and provided pro bono representation to national-level athletes.
Designated as a Senior Advocate by the Delhi High Court in March 2021, he was elevated to the Bench on June 2, 2022.
