A notable figure in the Orissa High Court, Justice Sashikanta Mishra was born on 17th January 1967 in Bhubaneswar. He is the youngest son of Khetramani Mishra and the late Bimal Kishore Mishra, an IAS Officer remembered for his knowledge of revenue laws and integrity.
Justice Mishra completed his early education at St. Joseph's High School and Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bhubaneswar, followed by an ISC from BJB College and a degree in Economics from Ravenshaw College, Cuttack. He obtained his LLB from Dhenkanal Law College and began his practice as an advocate in the High Court in 1996, working with Senior Advocate Narendra Mishra. He started his independent practice in 2003, dealing with Labour, Insurance, Company, Consumer, Cooperative, and Writ matters.
In 2009, Justice Mishra was directly recruited into the Cadre of District Judge and held various posts, including ADJ, Vigilance Judge, and District and Sessions Judge. He also served as Member Secretary, State Legal Services Authority, and Principal Secretary, Law Department. The Supreme Court collegium approved his elevation as Judge of Orissa High Court on 29th September, and he was elevated on 19th October.
